Last year I grew some 'Heavenly Blue' morning glories that were really gorgeous. I saved some seeds and planted half of them a couple weeks ago, after soaking them overnight with boiling water. So far nothing has germinated, so I'm trying a different technique on the remaining seeds.
After checking out a forum discussion at Dave's Garden on germinating morning glories, I took each of the remaining seeds and filed them on an emery board just enough to wear off a tiny bit of the black coating. Now I'm soaking them overnight in a 50/50 mixture of water and hydrogen peroxide. If by tomorrow they look like they've swollen a bit, then they should be ready to germinate. I could then put them in a damp coffee filter or paper towel and keep them in a plastic bag for a few days until they actually sprout, but more likely I'll just plant them in Jiffy plugs and keep them inside until after they've germinated.I hope this works. I've got the bamboo teepee all ready for these babies to climb on!
